just remembered something that serves as an embodiment of risk aversion in large orgs.

when Cisco acquired my previous employer, and they found out that we occasionally used a soldering iron in the office, we were told we had to:

- complete lockout / tagout training

- complete ESD safety training

- complete hazardous materials storage & safety management courses

- restrict access to the area where the soldering was taking place

- make an MSDS inventory booklet and hang it on the door

@gsuberland this does remind me how our multi dept government computer datacenter dropped power and was seconds away from dropping the gas into the dropping the inert gas (Many $10k s) (before being manually isolated) because a tech used a soldering iron to repair something in-situ, and it triggered the fire detection.
