@mcc @whitequark an interesting thread (on the magic numbers etc) - but worth reminding everyone - you probably don’t want to type ‘reboot’ any more than ripping out the power cable …(oh my poor lost cached writes).

@mcc @ijk64 It seems like it may depend on the implementation. I've seen some that seemed to do a fairly forceful process that likely didn't fully sync or shut stuff down (I won't go so far as to say equivalent to just pushing the button, but still dangerous,) but most don't seem to do anything that extreme. One halts when I type reboot instead of rebooting (no clue why!) Most others seem like shutdown -r now to me.

@nazokiyoubinbou @mcc yes I’ve been trying to find the info I need. I’ve actually hit this issue in the past but I think it may have been with Solaris. And this was only after I had done it many times the wrong way without an issue.
