Look! I’m using @ivory!

This is the Mastodon client for iOS that’s taking the Fediverse by storm.

I just installed it but here’s screenshots.

So far, so good!

Very interesting! Looks like @ivory renames #Explore as “Trending”.

Which feels more intuitive if you’re coming from Twitter.

Another nice touch about @ivory is the sounds when you receive a notification. It conjures delight.

Not enough people think about sound in relation to UI/UX.

Look at the compose icon for @ivory.

It’s a trumpet.

Which is a nice callback to the notion of “tooting”.

I know that many people want the word “toot” to go away. Yet this icon invites you to toot.

As a fellow who receives a LOT of notifications, this feature is important to me.

@ivory let’s you see who’s interacted with your posts at a glance—both boosts and favorited.

In this way, it makes Mastodon into a more human place.

Something also important to me is how @ivory separates mentions (@ icon) from notifications (bell icon).

Important because mentions usually are grouped with notifications on Mastodon—but I, personally, pay more attention to replies.

The separation is nice!

Another really nice touch! @ivory allows you to search your Home Feed. Useful for when you see something than lost it and don’t want to do a big scroll hunt.

Follow

@atomicpoet @ivory have to admit, it is pretty slick (only in demo mode at moment). Love (need) the search on local feed.
