Went on a road trip today to acquire an IBM 3278 so that I can experience the IBM mainframe feeling in an appropriate fashion, using https://ajk.me/building-an-ibm-3270-terminal-controller - The keyboard is of the German APL variant and looks awesome after some cleaning. Now I need to find a DP8341N and the three-way transformer. #retrocomputing

If you wondered about the black thing below the spacebar, it is a latch that locks a door. It is tempting to think that it is a place to store passwords or the requisite drugs to stand through using IBM operating systems and applications, but I believe that it is there so that an armrest can be attached. Not sure about that, though. #retrocomputing

A second, larger compartment exists on the underside of this very heavy keyboard. Maybe it is for the master passwords? #retrocomputing
