“The reason most public transportation is seen as ‘losing’ money is precisely because it charges for trips. If you don't charge fares, suddenly it can't ‘lose’ money. It just costs money, the same as the roads.”

This random comment has given me my new favourite argument for removing fares from public transit.

Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and then buy the pond. Tell him he can't have the fish, but he can fish for you and you will sell the fish and give him a very small cut, and then he'll say stuff like "I am hungry and my teeth hurt". Nobody wants to fish these days.

Can we see rainbows and glories in the atmospheres of terrestrial exoplanets orbiting around nearby stars with the Habitable Worlds Observer, a proposed 6m diameter space telescope? This was a project I worked on this week during a workshop I helped organise on "Optimal Exoplanet Imagers" at the #LorentzCenter in #Leiden this past week. Short answer: yes, for a handful of nearby stars if they have a terrestrial planet in the Habitable Zone! #astrodon #exoplanets #rainbow

Firefall
Firefall is a relative newly discovered phenomenon discovered in Yosemite National Park not to be confused with the old firefall that was manmade.
This is a tough shot to get and some years it doesn't happen.
This is Horsetail Falls. In February, for roughly 10 days, the sun comes into alignment and reflects off of the rocks to create this phenom. See the full image here: fineartamerica.com/featured/fi #Firefall #AYearForArt #BillGallagherPhotography #HorsetailFalls #YosemiteNationalPark

Q: Why don't seagulls fly over the bay?

A: If they flew over the bay, they'd be bagels!

(My dad collects these, I can keep going for a while)

I’ve been debugging the horizontal line across the bottom of the screen for a while now and just realised it is the YouTube progress bar.
