The Mormon Church is being fined 5 million because it hid a 32 billion dollar investment fund. This was not accidental. The SEC proved that both the investment firm and church went to great lengths to knowingly hide these assets. For the folks playing along at home, that’s a fine of 0.016% on the investment. Imagine lying on your taxes and you hid an extra $100K offshore and the IRS said “No sweat, pay us $15.63.” If there are no other repercussions, that’s not a fine, that’s encouragement.

Ey, you know #grammar is the most important thing ever?
These little guys are called the "Leaf Sheep". They have the face of a cow or sheep, but a back that looks like a house plant. These animals can photosynthesize, are only about 5 mm long, and can be found in shallow marine waters in #Japan, #Indonesia, and the #Philippines. They are like farm animals, act like a plant, and live in the sea! Credit Image: via the Beauty of Planet Earth

“we analyzed simultaneous recordings of more than 10,000 pyramidal neurons during 1–2 hr in visual cortex of awake mice (seven mice, nine recordings, recording duration 1.52 ± 0.51 hr), performed and first reported by Stringer et al., 2019.”
Now that’s a data set that keeps on giving! Outstanding.

I just discovered this video from
Transport Canada related to #DroneSafety. Every single statement about how privacy laws apply to recreational pilots is incorrect. Every. Single. One. I think I'll have to do my own video on privacy law and recreational UAV pilots. https://youtu.be/bfA5kKh4K1E
Wow. WaPo digs into why the South has the lowest credit scores in the country (adding to individual consumers' borrowing costs, freezing then out of credit at all). The answer: Medical debt. Because the South didn't expand Medicaid.

I recently discovered this divide between chemistry and astronomy and had to make the meme.
The real story behind all those UFOs the Air Force was shooting down last week is quite embarrassing.
I’m guessing someone at NORAD has now figured out why the sensitivity settings on the radar was turned down in the first place.
