@NicoleCRust How this is thought to happen is fascinating. Gut bacteria can actually secrete the neurotransmitters we find in the brain (serotonin, GABA, noradrenaline, acetylcholine) but that is NOT how this is thought to work because those chemicals aren't thought to cross the blood brain barrier.
Instead, it's proposed to happen via inflammatory molecules (cytokines) triggering a stress response from the brain (the release of cortisol via the HPA axis).
Any experts up for chiming in on this?
Excited for an #introduction 👋!
📝 We are Penn NeuroKnow, a #neuroscience blog run by PhD students in the University of Pennsylvania’s Neuroscience Graduate Group.
👩🔬 👨🔬 Our goal is to share our love of neuroscience with you all. Each post breaks down a different topic in neuroscience, ranging from general neuroscience knowledge to summaries of exciting new studies that are changing how we think about the brain.
🧠 Recent topics have included why we get the hiccups, how the octopus controls its arms, and how neuroscientists are starting to realize that what they thought was noise might not actually be so noisy.
⏰ We’ll be sharing links to our latest posts with short summaries every Tuesday when they go live. We’re looking forward to sharing our posts and engaging with the community here!

Today is Microsoft's December 2022 Patch Tuesday, and with it comes fixes for two zero-day vulnerabilities, including an actively exploited bug, and a total of 49 flaws.
Some of you will know that there are character codes which are magic, For example, 8 is backspace, 9 is tab, 13 is enter/return, 27 is escape.
And then there's 127, which is delete. Why?
Because if you're dealing with punched cards, you need to remove errors. And the only code which will work for cancelling out a column is all holes punched, since you can't un-punch a hole
And 127 in binary is `01111111`.
At @laurendw's urging, I installed #DuckDuckGo on my Pixel. The amount of sleazy tracking going on from apps I thought of somewhat respectable is blood-curdling.
Particularly annoying is the tracking from apps that haven’t actually used since installing DDG.
I have heard that DDG anti-tracking can cause some things to break, but haven’t observed any problems myself.
You might want to consider installing @duckduckgo

In the early 90s, 80% of Americans accepted climate change and thought more needed to be done
By 2010 only 48% 'believed' in it
The fossil fuel industry spent a lot of money to make that happen

#FortiOS SSL-VPN critical #RCE #vulnerability already exploited in the wild. Patch available, upgrade to FortiOS version 7.2.3.
The advisory contains several #IOC, such as log messages, IP addresses and filesystem artifacts.
However, when you wondered how we can check presence of filesystem artifacts, there is no quick reference/howto in the advisory. After a while, I was able to find only this diagnose command to list up to 20 last modified files in the given path. You can try it.
# diagnose sys last-modified-files /data/lib 20
Does somebody know how to list all files in given path via CLI, please? Bonus point for macb timestamps 😉

Two things to remember when an AI pusher calls you a Luddite
1-The Luddites were a movement by skilled textile workers that smashed machines as a protest tactic to get better labor conditions from exploitive factories
2-The Luddites failed because the bosses had them killed
