Also, why am I sharing the source code so early in the development?

Working on various projects, I've found that it's always better to open source earlier rather than later.

Rather than waiting for an MVP, it's just better to choose a license and release what you have.

You don't have to enter into an exclusive relationship with one social media platform (aka billionaire)

I think this current urge folks are expressing where they feel they have to select one platform probably stems from corporate tech monopoly's influence on us

It's actually worse for billionaire's if you diversify your tech use - its more difficult to monetize you

When a GABAergic neuron synapses onto the axon of a sensory neuron, what happens?

Turns out, in the proprioceptors of the locust leg (chordotonal somatosensory neurons), "All the available evidence indicates that the inputs that occur during walking are depolarizing, inhibitory, synaptic inputs."

Depolarizing, inhibitory. How's that possible? Depolarizing because of where the resting potential of the axon is (which is different than the dendrite's), and the particularities of the GABA receptor on the receiving axons. Inhibitory because the depolarization is subthreshold, reducing the membrane voltage potential and, therefore, reducing neurotransmitter release when a spike arrives.

What is this good for? Implementing an efference copy signal: "The rhythmic depolarization at different phases of the step cycle in different sensory neurons may represent a predictive action of the CNS when generating a motor pattern." That is, predicting when the proprioceptor will fire, and by how much, as a function of the self-induced motion. So this signal is subtracted in order to be able to measure (and react to appropriately) any unexpected signal (such as the leg skidding or hitting a rock).

Am I the only person who thought this was a caterpillar at 1st glance?

The number of users by instance in #mastodon is highly unequal. Some servers (mastodon.social) have a significant fraction of the number of users. If the ubiquitous "rich-get-richer" (RGR) phenomenon kicks in, we might end up with a couple of instances having all of the users. But did it kick in? Here is the relationship between instance's size and growth. There is a little bit of RGR, but some of the rapidly-growing instances are small. Decentralization also in how the network grows.

Believe it or not, I actually had to do some hex editing to get this to work. Turns out the sequences on here didn't cooperate with the terminal board.
