Can we see rainbows and glories in the atmospheres of terrestrial exoplanets orbiting around nearby stars with the Habitable Worlds Observer, a proposed 6m diameter space telescope? This was a project I worked on this week during a workshop I helped organise on "Optimal Exoplanet Imagers" at the #LorentzCenter in #Leiden this past week. Short answer: yes, for a handful of nearby stars if they have a terrestrial planet in the Habitable Zone! #astrodon #exoplanets #rainbow

"incumbent writer of a newspaper funny pages comic" is one of the most lucrative and hard-to-fumble bags in the world and yet The Dilbert Guy has found the one way you can actually fumble it. https://www.cleveland.com/news/2023/02/we-are-dropping-the-dilbert-comic-strip-because-of-creator-scott-adams-racist-rant-letter-from-the-editor.html
Firefall
Firefall is a relative newly discovered phenomenon discovered in Yosemite National Park not to be confused with the old firefall that was manmade.
This is a tough shot to get and some years it doesn't happen.
This is Horsetail Falls. In February, for roughly 10 days, the sun comes into alignment and reflects off of the rocks to create this phenom. Q: Why don't seagulls fly over the bay?
A: If they flew over the bay, they'd be bagels!
(My dad collects these, I can keep going for a while)
@SallyStrange @checkervest yoink, added to my collection…
@DroidEngineer wow that’s pretty toxic, volatile and carcinogenic stuff to sell as a drink…

As most of you know, our library is being sued by 4 corporate publishers who want to stop the Internet Archive from lending books. The date for oral argument has just been set for March 20.
What's at stake? Lia Holland from @team elaborates: https://www.fightforthefuture.org/news/2023-02-23-statement-major-decision-on-libraries-digital-rights-a-step-closer-on-march-20
TikTok is likely to be banned.
The writing is on the wall.
I've seen this already play out with Huawei, and TikTok is following the same path.
First, TikTok was banned by the US Military. Now it's banned in numerous US governmental bodies, including Congress.
But now that's moving beyond the US.
Now European Commission is "temporarily" banning TikTok from employee phones.
Who wants to bet this "temporary" ban will become "permanent"?

Update: power company hasn't been by to even look yet. We will probably be pretty far down the priority list, since ours is just the one transformer on our block.
Almost 500k customers just across SE Michigan without power. More than 20% of the residential customer base.
Do not seize the day. This will startle the day and may cause it to become aggressive and give you a nasty bite.
Instead approach the day calmly without making eye contact, pet it gently, and slowly enfold it in a careful embrace
If the day shows any signs of resistance to being engaged with, it is likely to turn on you. Back off and return to bed.
@campuscodi ouch
