@cmoz Pascal. Java and Python did not exist back then.
Generational Poll. What generation are you? Please boost for more responses.
The system only allows me 4 options (sorry!).
Just let me say, all generations are great! 😀
This is just for fun and curiosity.
#SilentGeneration
#Boomer
#BabyBoomer
#GenX
#Millenial
#GenZ
#GenAlpha

@StefanoGaivota a more realistic* measure is - what orbit around our black-hole sun would result in 17532 time dilation:
A circular orbit with a radius of 4429.875114 m
(This precision is required because even 0.01mm change gives a vastly different result.)
Things I had success doing when my city was spending zero dollars on bike infrastructure:
1. Creating & printing a bike map
2. Removing "No Bikes" signs
3. Installing public bike racks
4. Organizing cyclists
5. Planning bike lanes-- some got included in long-term plans
6. Convincing the city to ask the DOT for a "complete streets" approach on a state road
7. Putting "Complete Streets" in long term plans.
Tips are shared here:

@StefanoGaivota if the sun was a black hole - the event horizon would be at a radius of 2953.2500765 m
To get a time dialation of 17532, you would need to be 0.01 mm above it.
Got a hypothetical question for #physics scholars and / or #scifi enthusiasts:
The characters in "Interstellar" discuss managing time dilation which makes 1 hour gravity affected time equivalent to 2 years of reference time. (that's a 1 : 17532 ratio!)
What is the gravitational field strength needed to cause such a time dilation ratio?
What would be the mechanical effects of such gravitational acceleration?
I attempted to make a calculation but the numbers made spreadsheet throw a conrod.
Hi there, #Fediverse. I'm giving people until January 1 to talk me out of organizing a forum for Mastodon instance moderators. Here's the basic idea so far: https://toot.cat/@StephanieZvan/109553303241961412 Hosting hasn't been settled.
Who am I to think I can do something like this?
- I've been helping organizations write and enforce codes of conduct for the last decade.
- Yes, I've been harassed for it, and I have resources for coping.
- My focus is social, not technical.
- I like teaching, but I don't coddle nonsense and misdirection.
- I know and respect that people with the most insight into moderation will have a wide variety of preferences for receiving credit for those insights.
I'm happy to answer questions. People who take that as an opportunity to ask insincere questions often wish they hadn't.
