(I can't for the life of me figure out how to add alt text after posting. So instead, I'll put the text in the body of the post. I hope that's okay.)
"When people travel to the past, they worry about radically changing the present by doing something small. Few people think that they can radically change the future by doing something small in the present."
@darnell @atomicpoet oh no, you’ve googlekilled it already 🥹
@r000t yes, assume everything you post (and see) on this and most (all?) sites, including meta info (when where ip) is consumable by anyone and anything for all time.
You can anonymise… but can you really? (hint VPN is more like security by obscurity)
@atomicpoet @darnell I’m starting to imagine an app/architecture that sits on top of any and all of these paradigms (twitter, mastodon, instragram, newthing…) and scapes and abstracts them to present things (of your choosing in a way of your choosing) and interact (cross posts as applicable).
Done to the point where people don’t actually know what backends they are really using.
@internetarchive OMG wow. It's been almost 25 years since I wrote this to manage my #diabetes on a #palmpilot. I wrote it in Metrowerks CodeWarror C, and the amount of work to draw a pie chart on a system without floating point OR math libraries was nuts. And flood fills? Good lord
@sanjanah if true, that’s enough to get twitter shutdown immediately in my mind.

Univac removable disk cartridge for Univac computer models 1004 and 1005.
Provided removable random access storage and the possibility of adding up to five slave reader devices.
Mesures: 40x40x1,6 (cm).
Searching in the web I found that it had a 2,2 MB capacity, but the brochure states one million characters (a bit less than 1 MB) and the seller text in the back of the brochure claims 16.896.000 (a bit over 16 MB).

Could I tempt you to boost this post, or get involved in a project to customise Linux for users with special needs/learning difficulties? I have two such children. Adults now (18). I want to do something for my boys and for people like them. 🙂❤️
I've already done a bit, using Ansible, with AlmaLinux and Ubuntu: https://github.com/robpomeroy/BrightOS
Please spread the word - I'm sure someone out there would love to get involved!
How about a Mastodon client inside Minecraft?
Apparently, it's been done!
Here's the source code. https://github.com/AwesomewareInc/Mastodwarf

So of course #gratitude today is for witnessing the power of a mother's love, and getting to cuddle a child that's also sometimes a cat.
Also for the break in the rainy weather and ice-creams in the sun.
